The Little Things in Life

Today's society is loaded with stress. Everything is so fast paced with so little time to waste during the work week. Many people have little or no time to slow down and take a breather. For me as a senior in college, I always have a lot on my mind. What is the next step for me? The work field is in my direction with a possibility of obtaining a Master's degree someday. I am nervous like any other college senior, but I am confident and excited. The key is to keep an open mind and to focus your energy and take one step at a time. There are always a lot of things going on at once during college. Exams, essays, and other deadlines all seem to fall around the same time. Many of us students procrastinate. It is better to look at it from a different approach. Taking things one day at a time will limit the stress of multiple assignments and exams. If it is the weekend and you know that one essay is due on Monday and another is due on Wednesday, focus more on the upcoming one and as soon as the first one is finished or submitted, take a few hours to clear your mind before you move onto the next deadline. There are many different easy activities in which I enjoy to relax. I'll list a few below.

Take a Drive

Getting behind the wheel and heading down a scenic route in your car is a great way to gather your thoughts. Playing some relaxing music always helps while driving. I do a large amount of thinking while taking long drives. I am able to calm down and come up with new ideas.

Cooking

When I have a few hours free, I like to go online and find a recipe that looks appetizing and make it. Something like Pasta Primavera or a Stir-Fry is always a good choice because they are both simple, filling, and healthy at the same time. It is always a confidence builder after making a good meal. If you are running short on time, a good breakfast in the morning always helps energize me. Something simple such as two eggs with bagel thins along with fruit or yogurt with a cup of coffee and a cup of orange juice always makes me ready for anything the day has to throw at me.

Comedy
I always believe that laughter is indeed the best medicine. Nothing cheers me up more than something funny. A good way to unwind is to pop in a DVD, watch a favorite show, or go online and search for a funny video. Comedy, no matter what the situation, is always a solid stress reliever.

These three simple ideas are all ways to help us relax and focus. Keeping an open mind will help maximize your potential throughout the day. Taking things one task at a time will help bring everything together. Have a great day!

  1. You are an awesome writer babe. (:

All of these things are true! I used to go on Sunday night therapy drives. Sometimes I still do. After dinner at my grandma's I would drive around my town and back roads just singing along to my music. I would always feel a lot better afterward. When I do cook myself something I feel happy that I have the capability to nourish myself and not depend on someone else to satisfy my hunger. Comedy, definitely one of the best ways to relieve stress. That is one of the many reasons I can't get enough of YOU! (: You always keep me laughing and after just a few minutes with you my whole day is brightened. You are so funny honey. (:

    Love you <3
